Sailing In Florida This Christmas Week

Christmas week in Florida (St Petes) with the family. Looking to get out to sail anywhere. Are there any charter companies that have 30'+ boats for rent on a daily basis?

Any racing going on that time of the year? Would also be interested as crew.

Are you a yacht club member? If so, check to see if you have reciprocity with SPYC (http://www.spyc.org). If not, talk to your club, it may be relatively simple for them to send an official letter of introduction for you. If you can access the club, I bet you can find somebody to take you out or if racing is ongoing by contacting their dockmaster.

Friday night is the usual night for racing in Tampa Bay, but I really don't know if they race in the winter (early darkness). The better place would be in Tampa, Davis Island. They run on thursdays, and they're always needing crew, experienced or not! I think you can contact DIYC for more info, on the web.

My son and niece and friends are currently on the boat "Summer Breeze" from the sailingflorida.com website, the bums! They are due back in tomorrow afternoon. My niece got her bareboat license there. They have rented several boats there over the last several years. This trip was planned and boat reserved in the early summer. It may be to late for Christmas Week now.
