Thanks for your input on the previous question. I am getting a wisker pole.I will rephrase my question. Do you sail on a dead run, or almost ?In a 12-15 knot wind, going downwind, I let the boom out to the shourds. But then I noticed that the full battens were bent around the shrouds (S shaped), and sail also. This does not seem to be good for the sail or the battens. If I keep the boom in close enough to keep the sail from wrapping , then my best angle downwind is about 175-180 degrees. Beyond this , it would be easy to have an accidental jibe - I think.Any comments ?
