I am looking for REGULAR sailing buddies to sail with me at least twice a month. My 22' Venture is now located at Marina del Rey, CA. My boat is set up for both offshore and singlehanding. I have been sailing the area from Santa Barbara to San Diego and am now primarily sailing the Los Angeles area with several trips to Catalina and Santa Barbara Island. If you are at least 18 and able to get around on the deck of a small sailboat, male or female, young or old, and would like to learn sailing and/or sail regularly with me, please contact me. I live in the Palmdale area and sail out of MDR as well as Long Beach and occasionally Ventura. I have been sailing for 30 years and will be sailing for many more years. Since I am retired I can sail any time but usually sail on week-ends. This request is NOT for someone who just wants to sail occasionally but enjoys (or feels that they might enjoy) sailing several times a month. My usual sailing is for two days and one noght at the MDR dock. Duane (Novelman)

Duane, I don't know how the boat traffic is on the west coast

but here on the Chesapeake Bay weekends are wall to wall boats but during the week you can have the whole bay to yourself.

Ross, Week-ends are not bad here since my boat is in a mast-up storage area next to the large launching ramp. If I sail on week-days the freeway traffic is very bad both for the AM and PM comutes. And I drive 75 miles to get to the ramp. Also since I stay at the visitor docks next to the ramp it is easy to put the boat in and take it out. My problem is the fair-weather sailors who don't want to sail if it is cool (60 degrees) or windy (above 8 knots). Novelman

I'm lucky enough to be able to sail

the Chesapeake during the week when I have virtually the whole bay to myself. On weekends, things can get busy in and around my marina (20 miles south of Annapolis) and the channel out to deep water, but once there, the boats disperse pretty quickly and there is lots of room for everyone. The upper bay, where Ross is, is quite a bit narrower and perhaps that constricts things more. I'm hoping to get back in the water in 3 weeks or so ....better get some spring maintenance done. Duane: I think your offer is great and hope you find a mate. Not sure what Lats and Atts has these days, but here on the Chesapeake a regional sailing pub that I write for, SpinSheet, offers free listings to both people who want to sail and owners looking for crew to cruise or race. You may want to look around at some of the regional sailing pubs in your area as they may offer the same thing.

Here is a link to a groups of what seems like nice people

interested in sailing. Most of the are going to be much younger than you, but then who isn't? I is called Meetup and there are a number of groups in our area. Frank http://sailing.meetup.com/94/

Plenty of room anytime to sail - even today, but it is a bit cold.

I have seen the Relief band work

This is the electric wrist band. My friend used to get sick easily and quickly on Lake Michigan. He tried perscriptions and they worked but had side effects. The relief band has no side effects and can work after you are sick. Now he can sail across the lake w/o a worry.
