One question that I've never seen addressed here at the ODO FORUM site is if you have sailed your O'DAY across an ocean. We all know how well-made these boats are. Has anyone done it? Is anyone circumnavigating?
Great question. I'm sure my 1975 Oday 25 has enough miles on it to have gone around the world. As they say though, its not the miles, its the stop and go traffic.
When we were in Bimini last Spring on our O'Day 28, we met a young man from New England that was on his way back home after a crossing to Ireland and returning through the carribean with his Dad. The boat was a stock 1979 O'Day 27 and the only problem they had was losing the rudder after leaving Ireland. They made it back under a jury rudder and had a new built.
