went out yesterday in SC and had a great time. winds were about 10 mph. I have not sailed in 16 years, but I had no problems. The 146 is a great boat, and I hope to take it out this weekend. I did loss a clevis pin that connects the boom to the mask. Does anyone know for sure what size it is? Last question, I have a 2 hp honday outboard short shaft due to getting a real good deal. Do any of you think that the short shaft is too short for the 146? thanks for all of the help. d:)

If you are talking about an air cooled Honda outboard that is the best engine you could have. It is light and reliable and you already own it. Your largest inconvenience would be with the prop coming out of the water in steep swells but if the conditions are such you should not be out there in a 14' boat.

I had my first sail of 2009 on Saturday. The winds were around 15mph and gusting. I thought about reefing and staying out for a while longing but decided to call it a day after a couple of hours and glad I did. The winds picked up to 25mph with gust up to 35 shortly after I had the boat loaded on the trailer.

I will take a look at the pin tonight and let you know the size. I replaced mine with a quick release type.

I got stuck working late and didn't get a chance to swing by the boat, but I will tonight. You can replace all the pins with quick release pins. I got my pins at http://www.mcmaster.com/#pins/=1cs7eq. I replaced the boom to mast and the 2 for the jib sail to make setup and take down easier.

The pin for the boom/mast connection is 1/4" diameter and a length of 1". The pins for the jib sail connection are also a 1/4" in diameter but only need to be 3/4" in length.

We had a snow flurry go through on Monday but nothing stuck around and they even got the baseball game in. The water is still cold so won't be practicing capsize recovery any time soon.
