I would like to get in contact with someone who knows anything about how the Yanmar saildrive is installed in my 356. It was built in 2001-02 and shipped to Europe.

Patrik,
the 356 had a conventional shaft and strut, not a sail drive. There's a tube thru the hull with a stuffing box, the shaft is 1" dia and maybe 5' long. Props can be 2 or 3 blade fixed from the factory but may have been changed by the PO.

I think the 356's that were built for Europe had bilge keels and sail drives. There is one for sale right now on yachtworld, http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/2003/Hunter-356-2795644/Annapolis/MD/United-States#.Vkd0WXrEirU it is located in Annapolis. I think some of those boats had a fold out leaf on the dining table to serve those sitting on the port settee.
Unfortunately Patrik there are not many of these around so maybe difficult finding another owner to help you out.
Good luck, Bob

Hello,

I have taken out my saildrive for service and when replacing it I have trouble to tighten the bolts in the boat. Do anyone know how this construction of this installation is made?

Hi Patrik,
Bob's right - they are very uncommon in the US and not in any of my 356 documentation...
You might look in the Hunter document and manual archives - I remember that some of the listed documents were for the European models

Patrik, I would contact the Yanmar distributor in your area and ask for a copy of the installation manual. Do you think the problem is with the sail drive or with the sailboat ?

At one point there was a Hunter plant in England buiding boats but that lasted only for a few years and some boats although being basic was a little different for example the sail drive on a 356 vs. inboard diesel. If Eddie Breeden was still around he could verify as I had talked to him at the plant over there a time or two. He is now retired.
