I am purchasing a new mainsail cover for my Hunter 27. The HOW chandlery and Sailnet (Air Force Sails) have quoted similar prices and I would like to hear about the quality of the covers from anyone who has purchased from either company. thanks Chris

Just Got One From Here

It appears to be as good as any of them I have had over the years (including one I made 30 years ago ;)). I am happy with it. It has serious velcro on the front and a quality zipper. Snaps on the underside and plenty of material to fit over even a new sail. Rick D.

Consider Defender's Custom Canvas

Chris, there's a web/catalog outfit called Defender Industries that does nice affordable covers. I've seen the covers at their warehouse store in Waterford, Connecticut and they are well made with a nice system consisting of a zipper on the mast side and turning snaps along the bottom, positively the quickest on/off system you could imagine. Your size would be about $180--go to their link and also get their paper catalog: http://www.defender.com/canvas2.html

I would also recommend the HOW site.

Chris: I would also recommend the HOW site. They provide a good product at a reasonable price and you support THIS website. Just remember without the members of this site purchasing STUFF, there will be no HOW, COW & BOW etc.

Just bought one here also

I just bought a mainsail cover from HOW for an H23. It was very high quality, heavy canvas. The zipper is covered by a velcro flap, and the top closure fits snug around the mast. Ours has plastic clasps along the bottom (vs. snaps). I'd recommend it.

I bought one here also

Very happy with mine, I like the velcro around the mast and zipper, and the clips on the bottom instead of the old style push through and twist whatchamacalits.

Main Cover

Bought mine here. It's a lot better quality than any of the boats moored around me have.I don't think you can do better.

Phil, are you editing these comments?

:) A new cover is on my list and HOW is now at the top of it.

Completely unedited :)

We've sold sail covers for a long time and I think we've got it right. Nice to hear all the positive feedback!
