We are looking for a larger Sailboat and have been looking at the New Hunter 33 and Hunter 340. It is very hot here in Texas and we want a generator. Do you think there is room on either one of these for Genset? We have boct dock and do not want to stay docked to run a/c at nite?? What do you guys think?

Lecia, we lived in Texas for ten years and ...

can relate to the heat. We bought our first sailboat after returning home to the NW where AC is not required. We have reverse cycle AC heat pumps on our boat with an 8kw Genset. It is a bit noisy while running them on the hook but comfort becomes the overriding factor; heat during the winter in our case. Hunter Marine or your broker can tell you the best place to install both units. Terry

Fred, our boat is moored at the Everett Marina...

as of December 1. We live in Mukilteo and belong to the Mukilteo Yacht Club. How about you (tandpcox@verizon.net)? Terry

Travis

Lecia, only one meaningful response...thought I'd weigh in. Having sailed on Lake Travis for a total of 16 years or more, I just don't think it would be worth the expense. You're just never that far from your slip. Even at anchor, slip over the side and "bob" for a hour will really help cool you off. I mean if you plan to sail up to Turnback Canyon and stay a week you might want it, but that in itself would get a little boring. The jet skis and power boats would drive you crazy. I sail a 28.5 out of Marshall Ford Marina and have a carry on unit for dockside. On something larger, I'd definitely install a/c but a generator, I don't think so. There really aren't THAT many places to anchor out and be left alone! My 28.5 will be for sale in March.

Sort of agree with Marc

I have a H34(which by the way is for sale on this website) on Canyon Lake aubout fifty miles south of you. I have a 5k generator which I would dare to guess is probably the only sailboat on the lake with one. I use quite abit on summer DAYS while at anchor. When it comes to spending the night on the hook, I prefer the umbilical cord at the marina, satellite TV and all the water I need.
