I learned how to make a video on You tube, I was inspired by those globe traveling, influencers/tubers, eye-candy editors, and helpful tip giving sailors. I especially liked the Captain Q yacht hunter, very informative for boat buyers.

So my 'Shark Tank' idea, make videos for those selling their boats? But instead of a broker walk-through, a full 2-3 minute video inside/outside, some music, drone shots, favorite anchorages, beach shot, accolades of boat, ect. I'm not selling my boat or making more videos because it's sailing season. (Editing takes too much time) Are you folks interested in seeing you tube sailboat tours? Prices for classic plastics? Or is this something overdone already? Thanks.

I enjoy sailboat tour videos. I would suggest that adding voice over can really help. Also slow pan over the more interesting parts like nav station, galley, cockpit, anchor setup... whatever you think is important on or stand out on the boat your are shooting. 5 - 6 seconds for other areas is ok but areas where there is a lot to take in should take a bit longer.

If you want to get any traction on YouTube, you'll need to upgrade your equipment, the video I saw was in 360p. The image detail in 4k is much better.

Story line is also important, the story line in this video seemed to be about how fast the boat is, but with little context. A quick search of PHRF numbers will yield more information about boat performance than the video shots you provided.

I've messed around with video and am still a rank amateur when it comes to production and editing. The video below is one I did a few years ago about a particular boat. It is a mix of video and photos. The video was shot while the boat was coming into port and being secured at a dock. It is also a very picturesque vessel.

The issue I always struggle with is the story line. Sometimes it is pretty easy as in the project videos I've done or the short paddling and hiking videos. If you are going to do boat porn videos and want them to be interesting, find a story for the boat, is it a cruising boat? focus on cruising features and images of the boat in cruising spots. Is it racing boat? images of the boat on the race course with the crew working.

If you are going to be serious in this, don't take too much time off. You'd be surprised how quick you'll forget the little tricks and shortcuts you learned if you are not editing and shooting regularly. Been there, done that.

Wow, that's an impressive video Dave, while learning to edit, I forgot the basics, next one I'll think a focus on a racing story, maybe introduce a nemesis on the race course. Thanks.
