After many years of putting it off, we finally went out to look around Lynden Sailboat Wrecking Yard (SAILBOAT WRECKING YARD – REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE) which is just down the road from us. Wish I'd gone sooner. Lot's of stuff - some common and some just about impossible to find. We saw lots of items that you pretty much can't buy new anymore because no one makes them anymore. A real treasure trove!
The thing is, you really just have to rummage around to find things. There is no ability to check if they have a thing without going, asking, and rummaging.
While out there, we found out that the owner might be retiring very soon. They might be closing up sooner rather than later. So, we're making a shopping list and are going back out for specific items, after taking some measurements.
I thought I would put out an open invitation, since I know most people do not live near any such resource. If folks have known things they are looking for, and have exact measurements (or make/model/year info), I would be happy to do a proxy shop.
I can't really handle large items (masts, booms, pulpits, etc.) just because I'm not really willing to deal with hauling and shipping, and it might not be that cost-effective for you to have it shipped anyway. But, smaller items are fine, provided you handle shipping. I'll drop it off at UPS or wherever, for you.
If you're wondering whether they have what you are looking for ... chances are, they do. Condition of items was a real mixed bag, as would be expected, but I can send photos at the time of purchase and give you my impression.
