yes..thank you..but..I buy the boat here from my friend from USA..i want to have all the paperwork done before i take boat to canada..i pay the taxes and fees from here..can this be done
This is exactly what we did from the USA to Canada, using the link in my previous post. http://www.rutherfordglobal.com/customsbrokerage.html

1) Customs broker collects all the required information from the buyer, seller, brokers, and verified no lien on the boat.
2) They send you a letter, (email), that will have your taxes plus their fee combined that you can pay through wire service if necessary. I did this through CIBC.
3) They send you confirmation email of taxes paid, and will request the date that you expect to cross into Canadian waters.
4) Once in Canada after clearing customs you will be given a # to stick on a piece of paper and attach to an inside window as ID until you get your markings changed.
5) They will email, as well as snail mail a hard copy of your new registration with hull # that you will need to attach to the bow on both sides. (Instructions are right on the registration.)

Our boat was 89k USD, our fee was under $500. The most time I spent working on this was driving to the bank and standing in line to wire the money to pay the taxes. It was money well spent. Clearing in was a piece of cake, and we actually got a little money back from the government afterwards as they had request slightly more tax than they were supposed to, do to currency fluctuations. Hope this helps you.

A non American cannot own a US documented boat. You will have to have it removed from US documentation before you do anything else.
Federally registered in Canada proves ownership. A licensed boat in Canada proves you paid provincial tax but does not prove ownership.
Best to Federally register it in Canada.

Depends. You will as I said first have to de-list the boat from US documentation. If the boat is one made in large numbers you may be able to register it in Canada easily from there. If it is unique or was made in small numbers you will need it to be officially measured.
I know of one Transport Canada official tonnage measurer, William Wallace Gouk. His company is Port Credit Marine Surveys. His contact info is here:

I would email him with a full explanation of the circumstances or phone him.

have you tried this list: http://cscb.ca/customs-broker-search
You probably want to engage a broker that is located in your province of origin or somewhere in the Eastern Canada (if nothing else, the same time zone).

as lurker said "We imported from USA into Canada. It was money very well spent." Money spent on the broker is a very good investment.

Catalina 270 255 Wabamun. Welcome to the marina
I know of a pair of identical Catalinas that were purchased in the US and brought into Canada. It was harder to get the trailer in than the boat. This is no different than buying a car, the paperwork needs to be in order, but it doesn't require a whole lot of outside assistance, and consequently cost.
