I am new to sailing and am painting my 1974 Catalina 22. I was wondering is their something that I don’t understand about paint schemes and modern sailboats? Is there some reason they are predominately white with blue striping? I like to have everyone be able to tell that my boat is mine. Bright colors and crazy paint. Is there some common sense reason that you want your boat that color? Thanks in advance

To please the masses

Most people don't want crazy colors so white boats with blue striping are easier to sell than orange boats with pink striping. That's about it. There's a gorgeous boat here on the river that's deep pink on one side & deep purple on the other. Their spinny is pink & purple with a bloodshot eyeball in the middle! The name? Luscious. :) LaDonna

WE PAINTED A CAT 22 SEVERAL YEARS AGO. NAVY WAS THE COLOR, AND I WOULD NEVER DO IT AGAIN! EVERYTIME WE BUMPED INTO THE DOCK THE PAINT WOULD RUB OFF. I SPENT MORE TIME TOUCHING UP PAINT THAN POLISHING THE BOAT. WE PUT A WIDE STRIPE ON OUR BOAT AND ARE BUYING SOME CUTE GRAPHICS FOR IT. GOOD LUCK!!
