I just got a little sailboat, a 23' columbia yacht “shoal draft” with a small keel. The boat draws 1’ 11” and I need a trailer (the boat is made to trailer) A fellow I know has a FUBAR 21’ bayliner Capri with a decent trailer very cheap. Would it be possible to modify a powerboat trailer to safely fit a shallow draft sailboat?

Sure you can use or modify a powerboat

trailer. Sailboat trailers are the same frame with built up bunks or rollers that hold the hull up high enough so the keel rests on the cross bars or rollers in the centre. Look at a sailboat trailer. You can even make long wood blocks and tie them on with bolts, as long as it supports the hull.
