It would be nice to see a sail trim chart posted for deploying and furling in, along with the trimming of an in-mast main furled sail. I would like to see the toping lift position when furling in (and out). Mine is on a 380 and each time I deploy it, I learn a little something..It was a bear the first few times..In addition, it would be interesting to see the position that the sail is trimmed to--- by various sailors. I race on a Catalina 36(with a hoisted main) and do the fore deck. It is altogether different! I'm not interested in debating racing with my in-mast furler, just want to obtain the most efficient sail trim. Thanks, Gary

Gary, I to own a H380 w/Seldon Main Furling. I've had the boat over two years. I do race the boat in some of our club races. Trimming the main is always the hardest. I don't use the topping lift at all. It's slack. I added the spring in the vang also. Down wind is my slowest point of sail with the B

(What's this? Rick Dalton posting on HOW? Will wonders never cease?)Sailmakers don't put telltales on furling mains because, in theory, they don't last. Just for grins, I asked my sailmaker to install leech telltales on my main in the positions where the battens would be if I had battens. Guess what: they work, and they've been there for three years now, on a boat that sails several weekends a month year round. Just for more grins, I recently added a set of stick-on luff telltales about two feet back from the luff 1/3 of the way up the main from the foot. You wouldn't believe the tales these new tails are telling me about the general happiness of my main, or lack thereof.
