The sailing season is over in a lot of places but not FL. Last Sunday I spoke to a FL sailor about some sail trim questions. During the conversation he indicated he was ashamed to pull out a sail trim chart in front of his friends. I asked him if he had any idea how many trimming combinations were involved with every point of sail and wind condition for the main and jib? During the conversation, I heard in the background his TV broadcasting a football game. I asked him if he knew how many potential offense/defense football plays are possible? I don't know but it's a lot and it's impossible (and not necessary) to remember them all. I then asked him to notice what the football coach has in his hand!!
