does anyone have a suggestion on a storage bag for the main and jib for the 170? i trailer the boat and would like a bag approximately 60" long and 36" in circumference.
Presumably you could call any sail maker and get a price for the bag you describe. Why do you want something so enormous? Presumably if you flake then roll each sail it would end up 24 to 28" wide by not more that 10-12" diameter. I bought one at a camping store called a 'stuff sack' which is about 28-36"x 15" diameter and holds my 110 Jib or the main. I happen to use 'mummy' type sail bags for my 28.5, 155% & 135% Genoas, but I could put all three of my Genoas plus the mainsail into the bag you describe. I don't know if I could lift it afterwards.
WestMarine.com has several sailbags available. I bought their 20" w. by 36" l. bag. It has a mesh bottom, and vents pretty well. Draw-string up top to seal it off. My quadruple-folded furling jib and main just fit in this one. Best, Mike G. s/v Lil Sport -Alachua, FL
