Bacon sails sold me a few sails for my 22 Catalina at a very fair price . Some of the more popular boats have enough of a fan base that like minded folks race the mfairly often . These folks replace the sails considerably more often than us casual folks . Hence ,us buying used keeps them buying new . I've also been treated very well by the sailwarehouse. Great folks . When you are ready to buy new . This website is the best !

Is your boom fixed to the mast? If sliding, you should have a downhaul to pull the tack down.

It’s not. At one point I didn’t notice there was a line hanging down from the gooseneck, so I pulled it down and cleared it to the mast. I think that helped. I do plan to add an actual downhaul here soon. Thank you!

Those swept spreaders would indicate the 192 was not designed to run dead down wind on the main
It is amazing how many of our thoughts about direction and getting somewhere (e.g., taking the shortest, most direct route) are not always translated directly to a boat on water. The most obvious example might be having to go halfway around an island to get into the lagoon through a cut in the reef.

Our boat designs can also impact the optimum way to sail to a specific port. The B&R rig with swept-back spreaders, while improving our path to windward, does not work when our destination is directly downwind. One needs to consider a sail like a spinnaker or tack downwind to get the best VMG for the boat.
