clearly something sharp on the spreader.. attached can see bad tear which I unsuccessfully tried to correct with sail tape earlier in the season. now torn badly in same spot as well as down almost the entire leech.

options are obviously to take somewhere (any idea of $$; and any suggestions in ny/long island area) or was looking at the kit from sailrite.

any guidance/suggestions?

I had a horizontal blow out on my genoa. I went to a local sailboat shop who has a connection with a sail repair shop. They took my sail, sent it along to the repair shop and I got it back better than new. They cut out the bad area and stitched in a new piece. It looks and seems stronger than before. I'm no where near NYC but if you have a couple sailboat dealers, repair shops nearby I'd take your sail to them. My cost was $185!! Probably be a little more where you're located.

You could mail the sail to Atlantic Sailtraders.Com. They will call you and give you the options on how it gets repaired. They are sailors themselves. They have always been reasonable and fair with me when I had repairs similar to yours. I have also always learned something from them in every conversation. Once when I had a mainsail with a huge tear, they fixed it the same day while I went to lunch. They provided this fast service because they knew I was on a short vacation with only a few days to sail, Good luck.
