Whoever you decide to take your sails to, have the guy give you an itemized written out estimate of the cost. Go to a few of them and and make your decision. I went to one sail maker a few months ago, who just wanted to sell me a new Mainsail at--$1370. He said that my sail was sun rotted and not worth fixing. I then took it to another sail maker who checked it out and said that the sail was still in good condition for it's age, and could be repaired for about $200. The final cost was almost $270. Word of mouth is no good. Get it in writing. I'll know better next time.
