Hello,

Does anyone know if there is a sail repair facility in the Baltimore/Annapolis Area that is NOT Bacon Sails? Or does anyone have any recommendations? I need a sun cover stitched up on a genoa sail and would not like to spend a fortune.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Hello Bay Tripper,
Several years ago we had the opportunity to visit two sail lofts on the upper eastern shore. If that meets your criteria for distance to travel and perhaps cost here you go.....
(1) In Georgetown on the upper reaches of the Sassafras River. The loft is/was in a building on the left of the driveway as you drive down into the marina property. That entrance is south of the bridge over the river.
(2) There was a "Gypsy with a gold tattoo" who worked out of a construction trailer at Worton Creek. She may not be working there still, but she did a fine job on a large mainsail and the client was happy with the cost. It is important to note that (a) although I was there it was not my sail and (b) the work was done on the spur of the moment because we were on a cruise at the time.
(3) Perhaps Craigslist?? Best Wishes.

There are actually too many to list. Just google: sail repair in Baltimore and they all come up. Good luck!

Nothing wrong with Bacon. I just already know of them and didn’t want everyone to say “How about Bacon Sails.” That’s all.

Thanks Capt. Ron. I thought of doing that. I was just looking for some real experiences. I will call around.

I would try stitching myself, but it involves the leach tension string and I think the material is actually torn.

Get the 2019 PORTbook. It's like a yellow pages of marine service and sales.

I've used North Sails ( believe it was) in Eastport. Very happy both times. Good excuse to have breakfast at Chic and Ruths deli.

Hello All,

Thank you for all of the help. I have a couple of phone calls out to the listed places. On another note, Ron had mentioned a 2019 port book. I have been looking at these and maybe one would make a good Christmas gift. I have found two different ones on Amazon and I cannot tell what the difference is between the two.

Does anyone here have any experience with either of these books? Obviously, I would get a 2019 edition.

As always, thanks for the help.
