Has anyone had good luck getting their sails refurbished? I am thinking of sending my main and jib in to get cleaned and re-sized. They say they can put the stiffness back into my limp sails by chemical treatment. I have been quoted $170. The company's name is Sailcare. Thanks for any feed back.

Me Too!

I have been looking in to this as well. I was looking forward to seeing them at the Cleveland Boat Show this week but I couldn't find them. However, I have heard mixed reviews. Sailmakers tell me it is a waste, No surprise There. At my marina the lady spoke very highly about sailcare. There is a local guy who represents them and will transport them to PA - No shipping cost. But he is quoting a different price than Sailcare direct. I have also been reaserching newer used sails. There is great aftermarket I'm finding. If you want the web sites E-mail me back! Again it depends on your boat, sail conditions, your use and your budget. I will no doubt do nothing this year. Plan on buying better newer sails, then give these guys a chance with one sail and the proceed ther after. I would also love to here from sombody who has actually used this service. Sailcare

I have had mine done and many here where I sail. (Sailcare is in the neiborhood). They do a good job. I have heard a few complaints, but it is due to thing like the bolt rope in the luff shrinking. I am told this is an easy and inexpensive fix. If you want to restore performance, little is gained but it is much less than a new sail. The first thing they do is lay out the sail and evaluate the condition of the sail. You may want to ask them to give you a call after the initial evaluation. I delivered my sails and watch the process. They found a few small repairs in mine. The repair totaled $15.00. I also had them install telltales. It was a minimal charge but inproved my analysis of the wind and my boat speed. r.w.landau

SailCare

I had SailCare do my main and jib a couple of seasons ago. They did a good job and the sails looked great. Nothing's going to make an old sail new, but if you're looking to add a few seasons and get rid of the dinginess I'd recommend them.

Used Sailcare for my C34 main; will do it for jib

Had our main done last year by Sailcare; very good job (not embarrassed to raise the main anymore). Stiffness has been restored, and I'll use them for my jib when it's time. I'd gotten good references for Sailcare before I decided to have my main done.
