At the behest of the Captain of Sail for my yacht club, I've applied for a Sail Number for use in club as well as regional races. Question is, is there any particular font type and size I should make? Planning to make my own number. Thanks.
Are they block/square numbers? I'm thinking 1, 4, 5, and 7 would be a little difficult to do.Our local marne store carries numbers ready made for a very reasonable price.. In fact they only sell 8s and you cut out bits to make the other numbers.
Your local sailmaker can probably supply them as well.

ThanksPer US Sailing (ISAF as well):
10" or 12" sail numbers for boats to 22 feet on the waterline
15" numbers for boats to 32 feet
18" numbers for larger boats.
Nope. But don't go crazy. People gotta read it.I've decided to cut my own Sail Number from sail cloth (with 1 sticky side). What font type should I be using? Is there any rule on this? Thanks.
Ok so Manuscript is outNope. But don't go crazy. People gotta read it.
Funny you say that.... Our sailmaker put these red stylized numbers on our black laminated racing sails. More than once a RC has mentioned that they are a bit hard to read. But no protests yet....Ok so Manuscript is out![]()
