They should have sent you an email with their new rules, with more complicated passwords. If you've changed your email account, then you'll have to start all over. They created a needless PITA for a perceived threat.
SSCA (Seven Seas Cruising Assc) was the same way. They revised everything and many could not get back in. They also revised their Forums and a lot of the users cannot use it anymore. Something about issues with Internet Explorer not working correctly. Took me several days and emails before I could get back in. I think because of that, SSCA activity may have fallen.
That's vBulletin, the forum software we left behind last October. I don't follow their updates now but there was some kind of security vulnerability that caused this activity on all vB installations.
SSCA upgraded with Xenforo, but the transition was no where as smooth as it was here. They are still having issues there. So sad, SSCA was a really good site but a lot of their members have departed.
Well, it could have been smoother here, for sure. But if they made that transition quickly and under pressure... like we did in 2008 when we moved _to_ vBulletin, it's very, very hard to do smoothly. We've made two forum transitions in the past couple years and in both cases, traffic dropped then slowly built back up. I'll bet they recover by the end of the summer, even.
This is by far my favorite web site...I also like the Wichita National Weather Service website....a wealth of information every day.....You are the first place I go every morning and every evening too.....Thanks for being here and for your help! Pat
