More than likely if it's white it's Dacron. Kevlar sails tend to be kind of tan, and carbon fibers in the sails tend to make the, appear gray. Unless a boat is raced, it's not likely to have the more exotic sails because of cost and durability concerns.
Thanks that sounds right for my mainsail which is slightly stiff and also for one genny but I have another genny that is multi colored and is reasonably light weight
Sounds like your color sail is nylon and they are referred to as Drifters. They are usually 150% or 1.5 times longer foot than distance from bow to mast. I even had a 175% drifter made for my 26' Clipper Marine! Needless to say: she was fast! Chief
