Sail lubricant

Looking for some sort of spray on lubricant to make hoisting of boltrope mainsails easier.

I cannot remember what I used on bolt ropes, but over the years I have used silicone spray on slugs.

My guess is that I also used silicone spray on bolt ropes.

Silicone spray. You can apply directly to the boltrope but I have found it is better and less wasteful to put a slug in an old sock, tie both ends of the main halyard to the sock (so you can pull up and back down) and insert the soaked-with-silicone-spray sock into the channel and hoist up/down/up/down spreading the silicone on the inside of the channel.

Anything other than McLube Sailkote will attract dirt collect salt. McLube is A dry spray. It's made for sails..

Oh I may have forgotten to mention it is really expensive.
