Sail Liveaboards out there?

I gather from some of these posts that I am not the only sailboat liveaboard out here. Aside from sometimes agreeing with friends that I must be crazy, I would occasionally like to exchange ideas with others that have to deal with the longer-range problems of storage, keeping warm/cool, moisture, where/how to insulate, etc. I'm happy on my H34 as a liveaboard and often have an idea that works and makes me want to share and pick up other ideas to make life aboard better. Just wondering who's out there. Bruce aboard Catwalk (H34) bchase3@aol.com

I've been looking for you!!

Well not for you specifically. I'm currently the owner of an H27 and am thinking of getting something larger to livaboard. Is a 34 large enough?? I'm currently sailing out of the west river. Where are some of the livaboard marinas?? Would like to correspond. I'll drop my email address on here if you like. Thanks Jeff

Livingaboard and loving it

I think there are a lot of us out there. I've been livingaboard for almost three years. Check the web pages in the owners lists, there is some info out there if you dig. Mike sends S/V Camelot out

Jeff in Shady Side

Jeff, The 34 is fine for me, but any of them would likely get crowded with more people and their "things." I used to live on it in Galesville (at Pirates Cove) but most places do not encourage liveaboards. Check with the marinas. Am now at a private dock up the Severn River from Annapolis.

Sail liveaboard

I live in Las Vegas, and work here in Southern California, so during the week, I live aboard my 260/270. Not a bad arrangement as I have all the amenities onboard, T.V., VCR, microwave and a new stereo. Dan S/V Unruly Julie

Living aboard a h410 for 2.5 years now. Loving it except that I miss: (1) my old fireplace (2) the two-car garage, especially the workbench, especially the bench vice. The craziest part has been dealing with the books we were unable to part with. We lined a 4X10' storage locker with bookshelves, but have added so many volumes to the collection during the past several years that we're now faced with having to lease a second locker. sheesh.

Liveaboard in Baltimore

Bruce, We have lived on Yaga a H40.5 for 3.5 years now and there is lots we have learned here on HOW and by sharing info with other liveaboards we meet. Like how to control dampness under the bunks, how to control the head/holding tank and how to control storage. The key word in CONTROL. We just arrived in Baltimore Monday night at 10 PM and 15 degrees, pushing through slush ice into the Harbor View Marina! Need to know the best way to stay warm. We are currently using 2 Lifetime Ceramic Heaters that seem to do the job but use about 18 amps. Anyway, life is good aboard and do not plan to return to land for awhile. Our cruise from Kemah Texas to Baltimore taught us a lot about the cruising life and our Hunter (like how well she handled 2 full days of 40+ knots of wind and 15' seas in the Gulf). The ICW up the East Coast was a treat, especially between 6PM and midnight. We bounced our VHF attenna on the under side of several high rise bridges in Florida. Mickey and Debbie

Also a liveaboard

Hey buddy....We are also liveaboards. I just bought a H34 in October and getting ready to move it to San Diego in May. It usually isn't cold here just wet but this year it has been a cold sob. We just encountered a bad mildew and mold problem in the back stateroom. We have had to move ourselves into the front stateroom and just completely tear out the back and dry it etc. I think besides using the electic blanket it is also dark and not much air gets back there. Anyway....hope your doing all right. I imagine its cold here too!! Sure love my hunter!! You can email me at susanannala@hotmail.com Bye...Susan
