I have a 1990 Beneteau First 285, that I use for recreational sailing on the Pamlico Sound. I seem to have a "like new" 130% genoa w/hanks that does not fit my boat (UK sails). The boat is already converted to roller furling, and already has a 130% genoa. The "extra" sail came with the boat. Not sure how the previous owner ended up with this extra sail. Anyhow, I could convert the extra sail to roller furling, but then I have 2 130% Genoas... What should I do with the extra sail? I am thinking to trade this extra sail for another headsail of a different size. Since we generally have plenty of wind, was considering a 95% Jib. Better handling in windy conditions? I already have an asymetric, so I dont need that. Dont think I need a 150% Genoa. I could use a new Main sail: trade extra headsail and existing main for a new main? Suggestions?

Extra jib

Hi Ivan - Sounds like a nice problem to have! My initial thought would be to have the extra sail cut down to a 95% sail or smaller and converted to furling so you'd have a nice blade for easier sailing in rough weather. Alternatively, post an ad on Gear Here (see Related link below) and list the dimensions and type of boat it came from. I'm sure you could find something for your boat to spend the extra money on! Best, Trevor
