I sent my sails to Sail Care and they have this PVC type material to use as a replacement for the usual Sunbrella. Cost ($480)is the same but the advantage is it is less than 1/2 the weight which is a benefit in light air. Has anyone out there used this type of sail cover for their RF genoa? Thanks.

It is nice stuff and is less than half the weight.
Most of the boats in my area have the SailCare PVC product. The purpose of the UV cover is to be sacrificial to the sun so the sail does not degrade. It is like using zinc to protect the other metals on your boat. The pvc product I think is good for about three years in the south and five years up in our area. It is lighter so that it has less tendancy to distort sail shape in light wind. Sunbrella may last a year longer but in light wind sunbrella will distort sail shape so that there is none. I do my own UV and I use a lightweight UV dacron. I think you will be satisfied with SailCare PVC result. r.w.landau
