What is the significance of sail cover/canvas color found in several newer Hunter models with grey canvas instead of the traditional blue. Are these charter boats, show boats or just owners preferences? Thanks, Nelson

none

Some people prefer grey because they believe it is cooler than navy, especially in the warmer climes like Florida.

Owner choice

My 326 - 2002, had grey canvas (liked it a lot) and was a choice when it was ordered. My new boat was purchased at the show this year so it came with blue as that was the dealers choice. I think the grey is a little cooler (temp wise) in the sun under the bimini. But I liked the options and the price on the show boat - so I took it with the blue canvas. It was hull #1 of the 426 DS model.

Gray is cool

We changed to cadet gray this year on our 99 H380 when we added the dodger. We had navy. It is definitely cooler - both looking and temp wize. Has navy trim to bring in the sail cover navy. Get the SeaMark fabric upgrade that is a rubberized coating fuzed to the inside surface of the Sunbrella. There is only 7% stretch and can be stretched a lot tighter than regular Sunbrella (14% stretch). Never worry about water coming through either. Cost is about $85 more per panel.

John, looks really nice......

and bet it does cool things down a bit. How much per yard is the material? Thanks, David

Cost

Thanks David - we trashed our existing navy bimini and started over. Cost was $4000 for new dodger with SuperClear front glass on dodger, chafe pad on back of dodger, outside hand holds on each side of dodger, Replaced both bimini frames w/1" heavy gauge stainless, eliminated all bimini hold down straps using cantilever frames, solid connector between dodger and bimini, 12x24 aft bimini window with no cover. I am not sure what the per yard cost is but I can find out if you want to know. Trashed the old frames and navy bimini.
