Sail Cover Battens

Due to an accident we were not able to use our new 320 much last year, and really didn't notice how "sloppy" our main sail cover was. Chalked it up to bad design this year. There was no "neat" way to gather the cover up while sailing.Turns out there is supposed to be battens INSIDE the sail cover (narrow pockets with velcro lock) on both sides running from fore to aft. Since the boat was completely rigged when we took possession, this was one thing we never realized was missing until now.Question: Does anyone else out there with a 320 have these battens? and does it help keep things more organized?We are obviously contacting Hunter, as we are now aware of another individual with the same problem.

Yep, it sure helps

The battens are actually a grey PVC pipe, you probably can get them at Home Depot if you choose to.They do help as it give you something to roll the cover around when you are rolling it back.Generally the way it is supposed to work is that once you have unzipped the cover, you start to roll the cover towards the boom starting from the outside edge. You will end up with a roll against the boom, there is velcro that goes over this roll and attaches to the underside of the sail cover.Hope this helps, it is easy to understand once you are on the boat looking at it.Regards.Bruce.Neon Moon2000 H320

Carol/Larry,I have changed my sail cover so it can be removed for all the racing that I am doing. As such, I have removed the "battens" and the pipping. You are welcome to them. Also, I/m pretty sure that Norm would make good on getting you the ones that should have come with the boat. Either way, they do help quite a bit when you are lifting the cover to zip in the sail. Are you "healed" enough this year to do any sailing?Wishing you fair winds...Steve
