I have been looking into getting my sails cleaned and was wondering, about how much it will cost. I have looked at the sites on the internet and all say they cannot quote a price without first seeing the sails. I would just like an estimated cost, of getting them cleaned. The main is in good order, no rips, just looking a little dingy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Sonny

Try this

http://www.sailcare.com IIRC, they charge a little less than $1.00 per sq ft including re-conditioning and re-resining.

Cleaning

If you're only looking to get them cleaned, any sail loft should be able to either do it or send them out. Around here they charge by the weight. Costs me just under $100.00 for both sails washed, dried and folded on my 326.

Sailcare is Great

I highly recommend Sailcare for cleaning and reconditioning sails. They do a great job for a reasonable cost. They will give you a quote. They come back looking like new.

Re-resining

I replaced my sails last year. I went to several sail lofts in Annapolis, Doyle and UK Alan Sails both didn't recomend reresining the sails. They didn't care if I purchased the sail from them, but they explained the process or reresining the sails. A lot of people do it before selling the sails. They expalined it changes the feel of the sail not the shape, or the strength of it. I have heard very good things about sail care for cleaning. I will be looking on the expert forum tommorrow also.

Just got my sails back from SailCare Inc. The cost for my main sail @ 160 sq. ft. was $144.00 and the cost for my jib @128 sq. ft. was $115.00 Shipping was under $20.00. I can't get over how clean and "white" they look. I would highly recommend them for anyone who is looking to get their sails cleaned/refurbished.
