Anyone have some good suggestions on sail cleaning? I have a catalina 25 mainsail that has the usual old sail look, with the addition of a few dirt dobber nest stains (iron deposits) any and all suggestions would be appreciated. nate jackson

www.sailcare.com -----Did a great job for me.Take a look.I'm only a satisfied customer.average cleaning price on a catalina 22 sail around $200.00.But I'm very surprized by the results

I used SailCare for the main and 150 on my C30. They came out great. People thought I bought a new main.

Oxalic Acid

Oxalic acid comes in a powder form and is used to remove stains, especially rust, from cloth. you should be able to pick it up from any boating supply place, or a good hardware store (for less, of course). Dilute it with water (hot works fastest), and soak your sail in the solution. If dirt is your bigger concern, sudsy soap & elbow grease can't be beat.
