I've used Sailcare before with good results. The sails came back better than expected, plus they called right away with recommended repairs. I would recommend doing minor repairs yourself as this can be a pricey addition to the cleaning charges.

MrBee...

another vote for Sail Care. They do a very good job at a reasonable price.

sail maintenence

Depends on how much you want to spend. Sails that size are small enough to put into
an 80 lb washing machine available at many walk in coin op laundromats. Thats what Ive been using for years for the sails on my Pearson 26W As far as minor repars go you can do them yourself

We have used Sutton Sail Repair in Stratford, CT. He repaired and cleaned our jib. Looked great and very reasonable.

A caution on using a washing machine for sails

I too used to take my Morgan 30 sails to a commercial laundry and have them wash them. They got them clean, but my sails were old and the fabric was rather soft.

Cleaning sails in a washing machine is not recommended by any sail-maker that I know because it breaks the fibers in the cloth and generally weakens the sail. Knowing what I do now, I would not wash sails in this manner. The most common cleaning method is to lay the sail flat on a lawn and scrub with a soft brush and mild soap. Rinse with a hose and hang up to dry or just leave them on the lawn to dry.
