I am about to send my sails off for cleaning and minor repair. I am looking at Sailcare (Ford City, PA) and Second Wind (Fort Lauderdale, FL). The archives contains several good reviews about Sailcare. Here's my questions: Has anyone used Second Wind, and if so, what do you think? Also, I am in Tennessee, does anyone have a recommendation for other shops in the South East? Thanks.

I use Henderson Sails in NJ

A lot of other sail shops send sails to Henderson to clean. The price is fair and the work is first class. They are near Phila in Riverside NJ..

If you select Sailcare...

...be sure that you understand their lead time. I sent mine in December 2002 while my boat was laid up for the winter. So I had no problem with timing. They told me that it would be 6 weeks. It took 8. At the time they also warned me that if I waited too long that the lead time would increase rapidly. After you send them the sails, they estimate the repairs and contact you about those costs. With spring approaching, be sure that you know how long it will take anyone to clean & repair your sails. You don't want your boat sitting at the dock and not being able to use it because your sails aren't ready. I am very pleased with Sailcare. They did a great job and great repairs. As many places do, the cleaning is the cheapest part - the repairs is where they make their money.
