What is the best method to cleaning sails. They have mold and mildew on them. I sail occasionally thru out the year. I leave the main sail on and covered with a canvas cover. But it still gets midew on it. How can I prevent this?
Max, Send them to a sail loft for professional cleaning. They clean them and I think they may be able to put mold and mildew retardant chems on them for you... Regards, Chris
Gotta agree with Chris on this one! I guess you could bleach the mildew out, but you could also degrade the material. For the money, the pros do a first rate job of cleaning. While I don't know if it's unversally done, most lofts also go over the sails to make sure their in tip-top condition as well as clean!
