Has anyone used the Sail Care Inc. cleaning and reconditioning process? I am thinking of having my main done and would appreciate any feedback.

Did a great job for us

We bought a 10 year old 33.5 a few years ago and the sails had been in bags in the lazarette for I have no idea how long (years). They were mildewed and spotted in many areas and had oxidation stains from exposure to some kind of metal. We sent them in and they cleaned and re-resined them (came back nice and stiff and crisp)and fixed a couple bad hanks on the #3jib. The main got some fixing on stitches and batten pockets. Can't remember how much but it was a great deal. Some of the really bad stains only got faded a bit but most of all they came back looking fantastic. Highly recommend them. Doug

ditto

Bought an older 31 with the original main. I sent it off expecting the worst, i.e., they would want to do extensive work etc. ($$$). Sailcare's estimate was minimal and they did a terriffic job, sail looks new. One point tho, there was some confusion on the return shipping. I had to make several calls before I got the sail back. They were nice, but some confusion. Just stay on top of it. I will use them again. Don

Sail Care is just around the corner from me. They do great work.( pending what you give them) They do repair, cleaning and resining. It is nice to get a crispy sail back. They will install tell tales for a minimal charge. If you have painted lettering it will probably fade or peel off, you my want to ask about that. My #'S were painted with acrylic paint. I had to redo them. The Phone # is (800) 433-7245 or (724)763-2229 They have discount offers occasionally of 15%. They normally offer these at boat shows. You may want to ask about that too. r.w.landau

Need a Reef

We used them to clean our main and install a second reef point. The reef cost about $85. They did a terrific job. I recommend them. "Festivity" H26 1996

I had them clean my 10+ year-old main last year. It came back looking great (for a 10-year-old sail)I was very satisfied.

Sail Care

I hand delivered our 13 year old main to Sail Care just before Thanksgiving on our way to MI. Nancy (the mgr.) was very knowledgable and together we examined the sail for what needed to be done. She even discovered a missing batten which I had missed. I saw quite a few refurbished sails ready to be shipped and was very impressed. They have a complete sail repair workship and it looked as if that they could handle almost any repair job. Their price was fair and it sure beats the cost of a new main.
