I'm starting to get twitchy, haven't seem my boat since last Saturday!
Really weird having it in the water, at the marina, and not in the yard covered by the BIG blue tarp. (or as my kids called her, "The Big Blue Whale")!
I gotta say it is quieter at night not hearing that tarp blow in the breeze! Best is I now have time to work on my MG!
The trailer looks lost and lonely parked all alone.
Never noticed how beat up it is!
Still haven't perfected the flaking on the new sails, this weekend I hope, but that got me to thinking........
My sails are stored under the sail cover all snapped and tied off on the boom to keep the nasties away from it, (my main, the jib is in the bag down below).
Last year I got caught in rain more than once, was pretty easy then, floated the 16'er on the trailer, pulled the drain plugs, toss the sails in the back of the truck, got home stretched them out in the shop and let them dry, over the clothes line to let the sun bake them to make sure, rolled them up and stuff them back into the sail bag. Easy cheese!
What should I do if I get the sails wet now?
Take then off the boat and haul them home?
Can't flake them wet and cover them, wait for a nice day and raise them to dry??
Does the cover REALLY keep the rain off the sails?
What kind of maintenance should I do to them now that the sailing season is on us?

You never seem the guy work on the boats in the movies, just ripping along the waves!
If you do, the boat is 1/2 built, the guy always clamping something down alone, no music, no empty beer cans about, no cursing cuz he cut the piece wrong.
Then fade out and in and POOF! She's all shiney and in the water, ready to sail off to adventure. AND! did you ever notice his hands are never covered in band aides and clean?!
