I am looking to have my Catalina 30 painted this year season. Does anyone know a good company that handles this. I am talking about the entire boat not just the yearly painting below the water line.
Ask locally. My fiber glass guy paints as well. Need to have a good spray gun for the job to be like new and yes it will be expensive, however that is all relative to your needs. If it is a boat you intend to keep for a while and it is going to cost $2,000 to paint and make her look great, well heck to me thats well worth it.Greg
I would go with standard white on a c-30....you would want to maintain the standard color and lines of how the boat should be. It may also effect the resale value. I also heard negative things about darker colors not only fading but absorb an enorumous amount of heat.Rob
Figure $200/ft ($6000) to paint a C30 in white or a light colour. There is quite a bit of extra prep work needed to paint a dark colour. It will depend on how fair the hull is and the condition of the gel coat. Any flaws will print through in dark paint, but hardly show in off white. Dark hulls can be stunning if the prep work is right.
