There is/was a table published in Sail years ago. I'll look through some articles I saved and see if I can find it. It was useful for sizing sheets. The cordage companies probably have something online.
The trick is there are lots of variables, some that even this rather complex calculator do not factor, like rig geometry.
The variables they do get included (beyond simple rig dimensions) is wind speed and angle, and righting moment. Wind speed and angle should be set for the point just before you reef on your boat (15-20 typical), and on a close reach. This is where the apparent wind speed is highest.
RM (righting moment) is needed because otherwise your boat would just blow over; it's the measure of how your particular boat resists the wind and therefore loads up.
