So a chapter in our life is over. My wife and I have been sailing together for 32 years and since 2006 on Cupecoy.Today she pulled out of the yard heading for Georgian Bay with her new Stewards.. The new owners have one sweet boat! She was under contract in 24 hours with two full-price back up offers within two days...She was the most amazing boat. If somehow I was miraculously cured I would buy another CCS-36T in a heartbeat..

We will be spending a lot more time up at our family farm/ski-place for now ( always lots to do up there) then possibly a land yacht when my wife retires..
For now we have plenty to keep us busy

How I get around on the farm..My little USA made dump-bed UTV

I am now able to get in and run the mini excavator (Midge) with one arm... Slow but it works..Yes, the same Yanmar..

I cannot yet get into or run (Push) but I have it in my sights

I also have running (Dig) our full size excavator on my list..

Weeks before the stroke we poured the foundation for our dream barn..My brother and I were going to build it but we had to sub it out..

Even though I am severely disabled I am finding things I can do and am improving daily...

That is an important up-side of a meticulously maintained boat. They are easy to sell.

Keep posting!

Sweet boat going off to a sweet destination! I know how important it is to you that the new owners have a great appreciation for the quality boat that they now have! I'll bet they do.

She is a beautiful boat kept by the most meticulous owner! I always loved the color and her name (been to that beach a few times). I'm so sorry for you Rodd. I know your heart is breaking. We are blessed you are still here and contributing.

Oh wow. That truly is a tough thing to do. I know the new owners are getting a fantastic boat. Do you know what part of Georgian Bay they're headed? I'll keep an eye out for sure.

It is sad but it would have been worse for you to watch her deteriorate in front of your eyes.

Some one will now have bragging rights: "I am the owner of Maine Sail's boat". Sorry to see it go, but glad you have enough to keep you busy. Why not build you a nice little day sailer when you are fit enough to do so. Like one of the old Harold Payson boats?

Perhaps a nice little trawler - hey, I know this is a sailing forum, but trawlers are not banned...

Beautiful boat & beautiful barn. I don't know where you find time to keep up with the rehab and all the projects you have going on!
Keeping active is the key to recovery. All the best to you and your wife. Carry on!

So good to hear this fine report, Maine Sail! Fair winds and following seas to our new land-lubber.

I remember well the discussions about your boat over the years and always thought it was one of the more handsome classic designs around. However, the boat's greatest feature is that it was owned and maintained by you and your wife, sir. For that reason I'm not surprised in the least about the buyer responses you had. I regret I did not know it was for sale.... I would have loved to own her. But now..... you have plenty of funding an even more addictive drug.... heavy equipment. Excavators, skip loaders, dump trucks, dozers, bush hogs, hay bailers, etc. now you're talkin' ... My dad's farm in Arkansas was a paradise for a kid who loved hunting, fishing and driving tractors... When I was in my late twenties, after my marriage went bad, I spent a year or two back there and Dad had just purchased a bulldozer with a 6 way blade. He said it was to build a dam for the new pond, but I knew it was more than that... it was because.. DOZER'S are FUN!!!!. Building that pond was a lot of work, and fun.... and over the years I'd get back there as often as I could, hoping there would be other projects that needs a tractor or bull dozer .... and there always was. The interesting thing was, when it came time to sell the dozer, dad sold it for more than he paid for it... and the main reason was because everyone knew him in that town and they knew how well he took care of his farm and his equipment. Oh well........ your article really got me reminiscing Rod, thanks for sharing. And if you need some help around the farm handling equipment... I'm only 3,000 miles and a phone call away.
