John, Soemtimes if you turn the boat through the tack just a hair slower it give the jib tailer a better chance to sheet the jib in before it goes out past the lifeline. Also make sure you don't turn past closehauled. If the turn is not the problem then you might think about installing rollers on you lifelines at the problem stanchion.
