We own a CSY 44 and need to install safety netting to protect our cat. The problem is the traveler and block for the jib pose a problem. The running rigging for the jib goes throught the traveler, aft of the cockpit through a block, and back to the winch at the cockpit. In other words, it comes from the outside of the lifelines to the inside of the lifelines. How do we install secure safety netting around this? Any suggestions?

Thank you.

Thread the sheet THROUGH the netting. As for protecting your cat..... they are pretty sure footed, not like dogs and babies. If the cat wants to jump over the life line.... well, how can you protect against that?

My safety netting on my boat is slightly raised between the the stanchions where my jib track is located. Approx. 2'' off deck most places 4'' off deck at track. My track however is located just inside my lifelines so sheet goes under life line to fair lead to winch. So that might not work for you.

Save some money by buying only a yard of netting, and wrap it around the cat!

You'll have to experiment with a fair lead through the netting, under or through it, and ensure that the netting can't be pulled into the block by the sheet when it's moving. I had the same problem, and I'm not entirely happy with how the sheet runs through the netting, it's an issue that will take more experimentation. You may end up looking at ways to rerun the sheet. Good luck.
