Safety line pelican hook rings

Spent the morning redoing safety line pelican hook rings.


Must have used wrong formula for load on stock rings.

I've had the same problem with my stock rings - all deformed and opened after one season using the braided pulls. Tried numerous replacements with same result, but finally came across some Ronstan rings while wandering the rigging aisle at WM. They are heavier, even have a larger diameter, and fit the pin holes. Haven't been able to deform one yet. They're carded and sold individually. Great improvement over stock or other replacements.

Had a ring break recently and it launched the locking pin overbroard faster than I could say "What was that ?". I replaced all of them with 1 inch stainless key rings from Ronstan. Comfortable enough that you don't need pulls, and much stronger as John said. I had to order them, my local store stocks them now.
