Jack..
I bought a Mast Mate last year on EBay, it was a good deal and the reason I bought it was if I'm with my wife I could climb the Mast mate ladder while the bosun's chair is strapped to me with the spare halyard and as I climb the wife cranks on the winch with no effort cause I'm climbing and when at the top she tie's off the line and I can work better sitting rather than standing which I tried and its not that great or comfortable if you need to spend some time to work on something. Now if you lost a halyard you could climb right up and retrieve it in now time if you have a spare halyard. My revenge: one early sunday morning while rafted together and I needed to replace the steaming light bulb so I got my guest on board to rise early with me to hoist me up to the bulb and after that was done 10 min.I had filled about 20 water balloons the night before and put them in a canvas bag and hoisted them up to me and I just waited, now I have friend # 1 on the port side and friend # 2 on the starboard side within an 1/2 hour they awoke and came on deck to have some coffee,I waited for both of them to get nice and relaxed with there breakfast and the sniper from aloft struck. Some bystanders got wet but oh well a lot of fun for a summer morning and all the other anchored boats who saw this had a good time cheering me on.This year I'm going to install a salt water washdown system for the anchor that will be fun up there ;D
