Hunter 30 Centerport
Friends,
I've been a member of the Hunters forum for a long time. First with my 1978 H-27 and most recently with my 1982 H-30. Unfortunately the 3 day Nor-Easter here on Long Island last week brought us sustained winds of 40 MPH with gusts in the 60's. My old hunter blew off the mooring TWICE. The first time the old pendant parted but I was able to get a new 5/8" pendant on the mooring ball and to rescue the boat with no damage and put her back on the mooring. During that day we had gusts over 60 and the new pendant line actually ripped one of the aluminum cleats in half which sawed through the line causing the second line to fail. The second time I blew off the mooring time I lodged against a cement sea wall. I was floated off on after 3 high tides but the damage to the skeg, rudder and topsides was just to much. I sold her for salvage. So until I get my NEXT Hunter my activities on the web will be necessarily limited.
But I'm out there looking.... maybe I'll move down to a Hunter trailer sailor.
Thanks for your help and friendship!
Sincerely,
Nelsonhow

Well that sucks! We look forward to you coming back with your next boat, though.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Lost my 1988 Hunter 33.5 in Katrina--total loss with no chance of repairing. Hope that you find something that will interest you soon.

So sorry about your loss! But that's no reason to leave the site! There's a treasure trove of knowledge here to help you with your search for a new boat. So lay low for a while if you must, but don't unsubscribe.

Yes, a real shame. Must be hard being on a ball. Here in the Great Lakes we are fortunate to have many protected marinas with docks.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Any chance of getting the info for the salvage place? In desperate need of some sails for a Hunter 30.
Thanks, Alex
