Stan was Great

I met Stan and Laura via HOW (Hunter Owner's Web for the newbies), then in person at the 2nd Chesapeake Rendezvous. Didn't see much of Stan during the event because he was working on the engine. What dedication! It was 90+ degrees. Last spring, I saw them down at Norton's Open House looking for a new cruiser. I hope they were able to spend some time enjoying the Bay. The Dents have always been some of my favorite people. Just so much energy and a great outlook. Jim: Tell Laura the Burrows family is thinking of her and the girls. Markdb

To our sailing friends

My family and I would like to thank Jim and Phil for notifying our wide-ranging sailing family about Stan's passing. He's just a solo sailer for now; some day we'll be with the breeze together again. Visitation will be tomorrow, Sunday, at 4pm at the Warrenton Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Old Town Warrenton, VA. Memorial service will follow at 5pm. We are establishing a memorial scholarship in his name. I will post details at a later time. The Washington Post should carry information in Sunday's paper. Thanks to all for the calls and emails and cards. We are surrounded by kindness.

Stan Dent Scholarship information

We are establishing a scholarship in Stan's honor to continue what he did while he was with us...encouraging and inspiring others to love and share music. And if this musician is also a sailor......that will be good. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stan Dent Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Fauquier High School, 705 Waterloo Road, Warrenton VA 20186. Make the check payable to FHS with Stan Dent Memorial Scholarship on the memo line.
