Just finished rebuilding the mast step ( cabin top area ) and re-stepped the mast. Now my standing rigging barely reconnects. I was expecting to adjust to accommodate slightly higher cabin top but not this much. A special note there is an aluminum spacer between the cabin top and the SS bracket which hold the mast base. Is this normal?does anyone have any pix of theirs they could share? Please! If not could someone offer a description of theirs?
I.E. mast, 1/8 SS bracket, 3/4 aluminum spacer, cabin top, compression post. That's my set up what's yours?
Tanks all.

i have a 9.2a but they were both built by the same company and designer .....the part about the 3/4 in aluminum spacer puzzeles me ...makeing me think some one may have added that instead of reparing the compression post ...is that plate/spacer removeable and if so will your mast step fasten down to the spot above the compression post is mine has 4 flat head machine screws that hold it in place....

The 3/4 aluminum is removable and it seems very likely that PO used as temp fix to balsa core rot. I replaced a 2' x 5'6" core section that was water damaged. Did all the work from the inside and inspected the compression post base to.

9.2 owner here, but worst case if you need to you may be able to buy longer turnbuckles for your rigging.

Thanks,
Decided to pull the spacer and place the SS bracket straight to the cabin top. With the cabin top balsa core replaced and reinforced with epoxy and 1708 cloth. I placed 1 layer above balsa and 2 below, plus epoxy filled thru hulls. I'm confidant it will be plenty support even if the spacer was a real part of the assembly. Every thing fits like a glove now so must be right.

This project and many others has left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Previous owner is not just suspect but a flat out liar. Oh well I own it now, by the time I'm done I'll be able to write the Don Casey how to revised edition.
