Hello All Morgan 33' Out Island owners, I would like to know all the Good AND the Bad about the Morgan 33' OI. What should I look for that might be a problem, may be going to look at one next week? What do you all like about the boat? How does she sail? How does she motor? How does she handle heavy weather, under sail and motoring? What don't you like about the boat? [I know you all love your boats but we all have something we would like to change or wish wasn't made that way :) ] Some boats are known for a particular flaw or flaws, what about the Morgan 33' OI? What is it like to work on the engine? Easy, not bad, impossible? Please let me know everything you can think of! Thank you so much!! Kathy

Mine sails and motors incredibly slowly. It handles well in heavy weather as it is both stable and heavy. In reverse, it has HUGE prop walk. Overall, I would not pursue this boat unless you are willing to travel slowly but very comfortably.

It's a tank

and like Scott said, it aint no speedster. Someone asked if I ever take my boat out in 20 knot winds. I said unless there is 20 knots she stays on the dock. NOw if your looking for a comfortable boat that can take rough weather it will fill the bill. The thing is a floating condo for her size. She dosen't tack well and won't turn worth a dime. She will track straight as an arrow. She loves to reach and go down wind. Check out my friends link below Fair Winds Cap'n Dave

We've had ours for 3 and a half years and really enjoyed it. I just help a friend buy one and sail it home from Sarasota to Pensacola. My is a 1979 model, the 77-76 one's are a bit different then the earlier ones. It sails well except upwind, and with the perkins 4-108 it motors easily at hull speed. It turns easily but it does have a fair amount of freeboard so a laterial wind when you're docking will push you around. Over all a very stable forgiving boat, and no you don't need 20 knots of wind. Depending on the age and location look for blesters on the hull and spend the money on a seperate engine survey. /David
