Would appreciate any advice on Marinas good for Hunters with a 5' draft from Jupiter south. Will be relocating to Palm Beach area within the next couple of months.

Welcome to the tropics

I live in North Palm Beach. My 37.5 "Prospect" lives at Soverel Harbor Marina near the PGA bridge. OK, as far as recommendations go here's the story. The Palm Beach inlet is the ONLY all weather inlet in the county. Jupiter breaks in rough weather and Boca shoals all the time. This being the case the closer you are to the inlet the more you will spend. The further away from the inlet you go the less you'll spend, but it still is not cheap. One exception is the small Lake Park Marina. It's very reasonable but has very limited power, water etc. The further away you get you also start running into bridges (well hopefully not actually running into them...). Going south from the inlet into West Palm the current also gets worse as Lake Worth gets shallower. Starting from the north (Jupiter) and working south to West Palm your choices are: Jupiter Yacht Club - a new place far from the inlet. Johnathans Landing - Private development but they lease slips Bluffs Marina - Nice small marina, Pricey and in a Condo Community. Frenchman's Creek Marina - Good hurricane hole furthest from the inlet to consider Soverel Harbor - Also good hurricane hole relatively high % of sailboats PGA Marina - in same harbor as Soverel, no cable but same price. Harbour Point Marina - One less bridge $20 more a month North Palm Marina - no draw bridges between here and the inlet. Waiting list for slips at times. Pricey Old Port Cove Marina - Same company as North Palm, back up in Little Lake Worth nice place if you've got the $$. Lake Park Marina - Inexpensive and convenient to the inlet. I used to keep my C-22 here, depth can be a problem but they're supposed to completely redo the facility soon. Buccaneer,Cannonsport and Sailfish - On the island, mostly powerboats VERY expensive Riviera Beach Marina and some small private marinas - across from inlet on mainland NOt the best facilities, can be pricey for what you get and in a REALLY bad neighborhood (but getting better) Rybovich - Cha-ching! Palm Harbor - Downtown West Palm - Nice marina, expensive, and a pretty good current. Hope this helps. If you need any more info or local knowledge let me know. My e-mail is prospect@netster.com. Jim Ewing gave a pretty good line up of the available marinas. There is also the Cypress Island Yacht Club which I think still rents out slips but should be pretty pricy. That had open slips in April.

Old Port Cove Marina

We purchased a Passage that happened to be at the Old Port Cove Marina. Very nice marina, secluded and excellent security. After purchasing the boat, we left it there for about 5 months and thoroughly enjoyed being there, however, as the other posters have noted, it is on the expensive side.
