Ruth really went way above and beyond on this mod and I'm really proud of the work she did. We kind of co-designed it. I made the supporting structure for it and then I went and pretty much worked on other things except to hang it up and down a couple dozen times. She sewed and sewed and sewed. You can't believe how many pieces went into making this netting.

What did you use for fabric? I used Sunbrella Plus (I think) that had a polyurethane coating inside. The coating made it stiff, which works well for my application. Yours seems more supple which is exactly what you want. I'd like to make a cockpit tent one of these days. I was thinking of getting a camping canopy and modifying it, make my mistakes, then do it for real in marine fabric.

Oh, while I'm thinking of it, I'm sketching up plans for the mast cover, or at least what I did. I'll get those to you when I get them done. Even if you don't use them, I'm honored that you asked.

You and Ruth are very talented. What's your vocation?

Our present vocation is "retired" :). Ruth worked at Douglas/McDonnell-Douglas/Boeing for 35 years. Me I couldn't do anything for too long except it took me about 12-13 years to graduated from college:redface:. I've delivered milk, bread, potato chips, taught school, designed and fabricated hydrology field equipment, had a computer store and finally a trading post....

..still have that building next to the house, but lease it out. Built 3 of my houses by myself and the store building above and then I'm into cars and trying to still build a Bonneville car....

...but then this sailboat stuff appeared in my life. I try to stay busy.

We used regular sunbrella for the fabric and then the netting with the really small mesh. I'd like to see the plans and if you'd like I'd post them on my site where I have other people's stuff....

Holy smokes Sum! That is a ton of well documented work. I hope it is effective at keeping the FL critters out.

job!! GreatI wish I was that motivated!!! As a matter of fact, right now I am supposed to be entering about 350 grades into the school's gradebook site. I am having a hard time committing to starting the process.

Nice job you guys but you need not do all that to anchor here in Florida. All we do is find an anchorage down wind from shore and stay 50 yds out. They rarely venture out unless they can smell blood and won't fly in winds of 10+ knots.
